Chapter 979 Attack on Smoke Momma
Brood Mother's energy was too familiar. It had a false sense of security. It was strong and ever-present. Lee Seng pushed himself out of the rubble, watching as the once familiar energy turn on him. Brood Mother's ghostly body protected her Son as her once warm eyes glared at Lee Seng.
"Who dares hurt my precious son?" Brood Mother asked as if she had just come out of nowhere and witnessed her precious child being bullied. She locked eyes with Lee Seng and a dissatisfied look grew on her face. "You. Did you do this to him?" She didn't recognize Lee Seng. She raised her spectral hand and motioned for Lee Seng to come.
Lee Seng was yanked out from the rubble, stumbling down the rubble. His legs had a mind of their own. He was walking straight towards the enemy. Brood Mother's spectral image was made of red and black smoke. She looked at him with red jewel eyes, studying the enemy.
"You were the one who hurt my son?" Brood Mother asked. She stuck her palm out and Lee Seng stopped walking. She moved her hands together and stuck two fingers out, pointing up and hovered over an open palm. "Domination."
A screeching wave flew into Lee Seng. He could feel Brood Mother easily pushing herself into Lee Seng's mind. Her jewel eyes went from anger to interest.
"You." Brood Mother's eyes narrowed. He pulled Lee Seng into the air and took a good look at him. "Of course… You didn't die." She brushed her hand across Lee Seng's face, softening her eyes for a second before pulling him closer. A wicked smile grew on her face. "And you're resisting… Let's see how long it lasts."
"Argh…!" Lee Seng groaned. His consciousness was being pulled away. Brood Mother would push him deep into his Soul and lock him up. The piece of Son would be broken and Son would be whole again.
'I can't… let this happen…!' Lee Seng's body lit up. He fought against the domination,. His mind split trying to fight it. Brood Mother watched amused.
"No wonder my son is crazy. He got it from you. You're crazy just like your father!" Brood Mother laughed. Lee Seng's energy exploded at the mention of his father. Brood mother continued to laugh and mock him with insults.
"We gotta… help him." Calis tried to lift himself.
"H-hey, you should be careful! Your arms aren't fully healed yet!" Ritsuka shouted. He adjusted Calis in his arms. Calis squeezed his eyes shut and tightened his jaw. His arms began to untwist at an horrible speed. Ritsuka and Evan could hear everything in Calis's arms moving. Calis's entire body filled with black ink tattos. The tattoos along his arms disappeared and his arms went from flimsy to strong.
"Let me down." Calis nudged at Ritsuka. Ritsuka moved Calis's legs to the floor and let him down slowly. Calis let out a sharp breath and conjured his spear.
"I… think I'm going to puke." Evan covered his mouth and turned. Brood Mother's energy felt unnatural. It felt like an oppressive wave of evil trying to break everything in its wake.
"That thing is going to kill Lee Seng if we don't help him." Calis pointed at Brood Mother.
"W-what do we do then? He told us to stay here." Ritsuka asked. Evan turned and lowered his mouth. He fought against the uncomfortable feelings growing in his stomach.
"Y'see how that smoke is protecting him?" Calis pointed at Son. Ritsuka and Evan nodded. "We just need to force him out of there. If he's being attacked, her grip will loosen on Lee Seng, giving him an opening to get out."
"Alright, how are we doing this then? Should I open a way?" Evan asked. His entire body lit up and the colorful armor and shield appeared on him.
"I'll leave that to you." Calis nodded. He turned to look at Ritsuka. "You force him outta there. I'll disturb the energy from the smoky woman. Got it?"
"Yeah." Ritsuka and Evan answered.? Evan was the first to go. He raised his shield and moved first. Evan's energy grew larger. It fueled him and his teammates. His energy grabbed debris and lifted them up. Brood Mother and Son were now in a much larger view. The smoke on the back of her head began to move, conjuring something. Evan pointed the floating debris straight at Son and the smoke.
"Kinetic Hold!" Evan shouted. All of the kinetic energy pushed itself outwards, blasting straight through the smoke and hitting Son. It snaked upwards, freezing the smoke in place as debris separated the smoke in an instant. "Kinetic Rush!" He swung his friends over and watched them soar through the sky.
Calis's tattoos started to disappear off his face and legs. They made their way onto the spear as he slammed a foot into the ground and thrusted his spear forward. "Juri Clan Technique: Treacherous Piercing!" The red smoke exploded, enlarging the opening as Ritsuka leapt straight into it and tackled Son.
"You're comin' with me for a sec!" Ritsuka and Son sunk into the ground, disappearing as Brood Mother's energy skyrocket. Calis slashed the spear, opening the bottom and looking up. He slammed the opposite end of the spear onto the ground, letting a large magical circle open. Brood Mother howled, breaking Evan's hold on her.
"Begone!" Brood Mother ordered. Evan was knocked backwards. Shadows shot out of the ground, snagging Evan and pulling under. Brood Mother whipped her head around, watching as a black and blue magical circle formed around her. Someone underneath her was speaking something in a strange language she didn't understand. "Argh, what're you doing? Begone!"
The energy shook Calis to his core. He could feel every fiber in his being wanting to acknowledge Brood Mother's order. His hand on the spear lifted and his body began to turn. He lifted a foot up and began to move out of her smoky embrace. Calis gritted his teeth. He fought against his body. He could feel his hand on the spear shake just enough. Calis slammed the blunt end onto his foot, causing pain to flare through his body. He had broken out of Brood Mother's hold!
Calis lifted the spear and slammed it onto the ground three more times, strengthening the magical circle. Water and darkness swirled all around him, blocking out her orders.
"Hear my call! Hear my plea! Gods of Daros, I call upon your power!" Calis spoke in Merfolk. "I call for your divine intervention! Evil has come and I need your strength to destroy it! Save my allies and strike down evil!"
"What're you saying?" Brood Mother asked. Brood Mother's smoke covered Calis, attacking him. "What're you trying to accomplish here?!? Domination!" The smoke pierced through darkness and water, sinking into Calis. The spear fell as Calis dropped to his knees. His eyes widened as red and black coursed through his body.
'Hear my plea… Please… Save us, Lady Hydran!' Calis screamed in his head.
"S-save… us…!" Lee Seng muttered. They both felt it. Three stars in the night sky lit up. Gold, silver, and blue. The stars lit up in a multitude of colors.
"What's that?" Brood Mother looked up. A huge beam of energy shot down at Brood Mother. Brood Mother howled in pain.
'The gods… they answered.' Calis thought. He could feel Brood Mother's orders washing out of him. Black and red spewed from every crevice of his body. Lee Seng fell from the sky and Calis moved for him. He grabbed Lee Seng, falling onto the ground and plunged into the darkness.
Lee Seng gasped for air as he got up and turned to the side, puking out all of the nasty energy within him. They could hear Brood Mother's screams as Evan struggled to hold Son still.
"Let me go!" Son shouted. "I need to save her!" Gravity pushed outwards, sending everyone in different directions. Son looked up. He jumped, reaching for the top of the shadows, calling for his mother. "Mother!"
"Sit down!" Ritsuka shouted. Shadowy hands grabbed at Son, pulling him downwards. He slammed into the ground, feeling Brood Mother's energy dissipating.
"Mother!" Son shouted. Everything grew heavy, forcing Calis, Evan, Lee Seng and Calis pinned onto the ground. "No!" Unstable energy ripped open from Son's stomach.
'Shit, he's gonna disappear!' Lee Seng thought. He pushed himself to move, but the gravity was too much. 'Come on, dammit! That's my only lead to the actual Brood Mother!' Lee Seng's arm twitched and with it, he began to reach for Son.

"Mother!" Son shouted, starting to warp into himself. Everything slowed as a silver energy fired itself out of Lee Seng's hand. It grew from a small bead of energy into a humanoid's size.
"AHHH!" Keng shouted as the silver energy dissipated. He threw his arms out and wrapped them around Son, pinning him to the ground and sinking most of his body into the portal. "You're going nowhere, bub!"
The silver haired twin glared at Son with his red and blue eyes. He sunk his teeth into Son's shoulder, drawing blood as the pressure dissipated. Son and Keng fought, one trying to push the other away while the other tried with all of his might to stay.
"Get off," said Son. Gravity pushed Keng into the portal. He then began to fold in on himself, letting the portal start to close. Lee Seng reached for the portal, watching as specks of silver energy held the tiny portal open.
"In now!" Lee Seng shouted at his friends. Calis, Evan, Lee Seng and Ritsuka rushed to the portal, looking down. "Go!" He smacked Calis in first, watching him disappear and then Evan and Ritsuka. The silver energy snapped, closing as Lee Seng jumped onto the space where the portal was.
