Chapter 983 The Beginning of the End (2)
Three large beasts loomed in the distance. A large tail with a paw hand flew out, trying to hit Keng as he blinked backwards into another paw tail. Keng went flying through the air, hitting the ceiling in smoke.
"Keng!" Lee Seng shouted. He turned his attention onto the Unholy Death Hounds. All black hounds that stood at least six or seven feet tall. Slender, showing their bony ribs like they haven't eaten in centuries. Each hound wore a strange skull helmet. Smoky green eyes glared at Lee Seng.
"Give me that one!" Brood Mother pointed to Lee Seng.
[Notice: You've been targeted.]
'No shit, sherlock.' Lee Seng began to turn when the Unholy Death Hounds blinked forward. Ash flew everywhere as they reappeared, attacking Lee Seng. Lee Seng threw his arms out, creating a thicker barrier. He watched the hounds break it instantly. One sunk their teeth into his left arm while another one slammed into him, pushing him away from his friends.
A silver bolt of energy flew outwards, blasting the smoke away and separating Lee Seng from two of the hounds. Lee Seng lit his arm on fire, burning the hound on his arm. The hound screeched in pain, blinking away. Lee Seng pushed the ash cloud away, watching the two hounds rush at him.
"Resonance." Keng blinked in front of Lee Seng, letting the light charge on Hydrosphere.

"Luminous Fury Wave." Keng slashed in front of him, letting out a wave of pure light. The Unholy Death Hounds jumped out of the way, letting a toxic green energy build in their bodies, spewing it down onto Lee Seng and Keng. Keng swiped the air in front of him, producing a large shield.
[Necrotic gasses detected.]
Lee Seng threw his hands up, pushing his energy outwards. Keng flipped Hydrosphere, pointing the blades downwards as he followed the hounds through the necrotic gas.
'Two hounds in front.' Keng told Lee Seng. Lee Seng looked around for the third one.
"Above!" Lee Seng shouted. Lee Seng pointed his hand upwards, watching the hound's energy grow. Lee Seng released a beam of light, hitting the hound. The hound shrieked as it blinked out, leaving a cloud of ash behind.
The two hounds in front of Keng rushed towards the light shield. They spewed a thicker smoke, disappearing instantly. Keng slid a finger down Hydrosphere's water-like blade, fusing it with many runes.

Keng tossed the blade forward, watching it disappear into the smoke and explode. Fire ate the thick and necrotic smoke, turning the flames from silver to green.
"Purify." Keng whispered, flipping his dagger and rushing forward. The two hounds appeared on either side of Keng, going in for the kill. Keng smiled and spun, creating lines of light with Hydrosphere. "Resonance Art: Mercy." The thin lines of light tore through the hounds as they jumped towards Keng with their mouths wide open. Blood and guts spilled across the ground as Keng came to a stop.

Lee Seng jumped away, watching the hound slam down with forceful energy. Souls shook, fading as the hound opened its mouth and fired green flames at Lee Seng. Lee Seng threw his hand up, producing a flaming shield. He watched the green flames turn to gold, releasing into the air as golden butterflies.
"Scream, Sword of Freedom." Lee Seng traced his finger along the blade and released a painful scream out to the hound. The hound howled in pain as it was pushed down onto the ground. The ground cracked under the immense pressure. Lee Seng blinked onto the ground, running and jumping along the uneven ground. He raised his sword upwards and swung downwards, carving a deep cut diagonally from the hound's shoulder.
Lee Seng pulled his sword and pierced the hound's skull helmet and green eye. The Hound exploded in ash, leaving Brood Mother angry.
"Fine, I'll just use one of your own friends!" Brood Mother pointed at Calis and flicked her finger. Calis ripped from the gravity bubble, flying straight for Brood Mother.
"No!" Keng sprinted after Calis. Brood Mother smiled and flicked her head right. A line of unstable energy grew in front of Keng. Keng pushed himself forward, reaching for Calis.
"Keng!" Lee Seng lifted his hand and wrapped Keng and Calis in a bubble. The unstable energy erupted, releasing red lightning bolts all around. Keng grabbed Calis and blinked out of the space.
"Calis!" Keng shook Calis. "Are you okay?"
"Tch." Brood Mother waved her fingers and lit the entire space in red. "Let's see you handle this."
"No!" Lee Seng wrapped his friends in light before the unstable energy exploded. Lee Seng howled in pain, dropping to the ground while Keng clutched Calis. He squeezed his eyes shut and waited for the pain. It didn't come.
Lee Seng's eyes shook as they slowly rolled to the back. 'Did I do it…?' Lee Seng thought to himself. 'Did I… save them…?'
Brood Mother appeared next to Lee Seng and smiled. She leaned down and reached for him and slung him over her shoulder. She looked over to the two bubbles of light fading.
"Was it worth saving your friends?" Brood Mother asked Lee Seng. She blinked and threw him onto the ground. "It was all for naught. Queen, onto the next part."
"We don't have enough souls, ma'am. The Hounds, they…"
"Just use the rest of the ones over there as souls." Brood Mother pointed.
"Calis… Are you okay?" Keng asked. He knelt over Calis, brushing his cheek. "C-Calis, p-please wake up."
"Go save your brother." Calis weakly answered. He grabbed Keng's hand and opened his eyes. "I-I'm fine." Keng's eyes shook. He wiped the tears away and took a breath. "Go before it's too late… I can't… lose you another time." Calis squeezed Keng's hand and smiled. "Be a hero."
Keng stood and turned away from Calis. He summoned Hydrosphere and connected both hilt ends together, forming a swordstaff. Water, light and fire whipped around Keng as he focused on Brood Mother.
"Give me back my brother, you tall witch!" Keng shouted. Brood Mother frowned and raised her hand. Six large shadowy portals appeared all around Brood Mother as she let out sharp bones at Keng. Keng swung the swordstaff, crushing the bones as the three elements grew around him.
"Stop!" Brood Mother commanded. Keng's entire body stopped, sending him forward. Spiky bones impaled Keng, immediately snapping himself out of the commandment.
"Resonance Art: Triple Element Fury!" Keng screamed as the elements exploded all around him. Fire, water and light flew in different directions, taking the souls and space around them.

Keng blasted out of the smoke, with two tails behind him. He raised the swordstaff and slashed causing the entire space to grow dark for a moment.
"Ah!" Queen screamed as a large gash wound appeared on her neck. She stumbled backwards, reaching for her wound. Keng swung again and another slash grew on Queen. A billion tiny slashes appeared, scratching the entire space in front of Keng as he jabbed the swordstaff straight for Brood Mother's eye.
A red-black shield appeared, pushing against Keng's triple element swordstaff. He pushed with all of his might as the magical circle began to fade. Brood Mother clicked her tongue and looked past Keng.
"Death to all, then." Brood Mother smiled at Keng. Keng began to turn, giving Brood Mother just what she wanted. She punched Keng away, sending him straight back where he came from. Sharp bones rained down onto Calis, Ritsuka and Evan.
"Argh!" Calis threw his arms up, producing water. He pushed against the bones, forcing the water to continously grow in one direction. Keng slammed into the water, splashing Ritsuka and Evan awake.
Ritsuka and Evan jerked up into a sitting position, watching the spikes above them rain down into Calis's water shield. Evan's fingertips crackled with prismatic lightning. He slammed his hand onto the ground, producing a large dome and rushed to Calis's side.
Calis swept the bones aside and pulled out of the water. Keng dropped next to Ritsuka, letting out a sharp growl. His eyes looked past the barrier and to Brood Mother. A large energy pushed past the group.
'The magical circle is back. She's going to do it.' Keng pulled Ritsuka up and took him with him.
"Open it." Keng ordered. Evan opened a small portion and watched Keng whisk Ritsuka away.
"What're we doing?" Ritsuka asked Keng. Gravity wrapped around the two, allowing Keng to summon his swordstaff once again.
"Get Lee Seng." Keng pointed at Lee Seng on the ground. "I'll hit her hard. I'll send this crusty ass manipulative bitch back where she belongs!"
"Hmph, are you sure about that, darling?" Brood Mother asked. She turned as Lee Seng lifted into the air. "I'm about done with the rite. It seems my right hand woman has enough soul power for this rite so I'll just use her. Dance of Souls, hear my call! Give me back this soul! Use this body as his vessel! Return my son to me!"
"I thought I made myself clear." Keng's voice came from behind Brood Mother. "Your son's not coming back." The swordstaff pressed against Brood Mother's aura. Sparks flew everywhere as Keng's screams echoed. Brood Mother's aura cracked. Keng's tri-energy ripped the aura, allowing the swordstaff to pierce Brood Mother in her back.
Brood Mother howled in pain as darkness flew outwards.
"No!" Brood Mother shouted. She reached for Lee Seng, watching a large black set of blades fly up. Her hand severed in an instant, blocking her from getting Lee Seng.
