J’s face had gone back to normal, making Wei Yong feel as though his mind was playing tricks on him earlier. He placed his hand on his knee and asked mildly. “Is that girl still a student?”
Wei Yong looked at J perplexedly.
He did not understand why J was asking about Huo Yao again, but he nodded and replied. “That’s right. You know how young people tend to be a little proud, so please don’t take it to heart.”
J narrowed his eyes and simply asked. “Did she create the database for the AL system?”
Wei Yong hesitated briefly before he nodded.
“Since she is the creator of the database, why is the institute involved in this at all?” J looked at Wei Yong as he asked softly.
Wei Yong did not know how to respond. Qi Hui chimed in and explained on his behalf. “You see. The institute worked with Tsing University for a research project and the system belongs to the institute.”
“Is that so?” J looked at Qi Hui’s face. He recalled this man giving the young woman a poor attitude earlier. He pursed his lips and asked., “Who are you anyway?”
Qi Hui froze briefly before he replied softly. “I’m the department head of Biology at Tsing University.”
Was he from Tsing University?
J roughly figured out what had happened, but he said nothing. Instead, he stood up and walked out of the room coldly without so much as looking at the others.
When J wanted to leave, Wei Yong could not understand why the meeting turned out this way. He anxiously ran after him. “Hang on, Mr. Meng. This is a misunderstanding.”
J had gotten to the door by now. He halted and turned his head sideways slightly the moment he heard what Wei Yong said. He said mildly, “I think this is a mistake as well. Just pretend that I was never here.”
His profile looked cold and uncompromising.
Wei Yong opened his eyes wide in astonishment.
Did this mean DO Corporation was no longer going to work with them?
After J walked out, his subordinate quickly put away the laptop and followed behind him.
When he walked past Wei Yong, Wei Yong pulled his arm. “Mr. Jie, I think Mr. Meng has misunderstood us. Can you help me talk to him, please?”
Jie Xi glanced at Wei Yong. Since he knew Wei Yong from their previous work together, he stopped and responded. “Mr. Wei, you can forget about getting the project. Mr. Meng has already said it was a mistake, so you’re never going to win the project.”
“Our discussions were going so smoothly, right? If he’s upset about the student, I can make her apologize to Mr. Meng,” said Wei Yong anxiously.

Qi Hui broke out in cold sweat and did not dare to even look Wei Yong straight in the eyes. “Mr. Wei, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see it coming. I will reprimand her later and make her apologize to Mr. Meng.”
