Chapter 490 Ahrimon's Desire

"My King, the plan is impeccable, and as you said, unless a Domain Guardian intervenes, the plan should be successful,"

"Because even a Monarch would not be able to sense the life-siphoning array if they don't intently look for it, and even then, it would take them some time to sense it, given that it's concealed by my Law of Envy."

"But, now you are suggesting that I will fail?" A man kneeling under the moonlight said, his voice calm yet assertive.

"Leviathan, I am not saying you will fail. I am telling you that your mission has changed," The figure on the dark throne spoke, and after a short pause, he continued.

"Your mission requires you to use the essence conduit crystals to create a life-siphoning array on the human continent, which would be fueled by the dying creatures inside its radius,"

"The sleeping Rage Beasts would be awakened, and the four Chaos Generals would be killed inside the four capital cities, while at the same time, the cult members would begin to massacre the population of various cities."

"The Cult and the Eldravian Empire forces would protect the four crystals until a passage between the two continents is built, which should take less than two hours, and once it does, you will be free to use your powers without the need for the conduit crystals,"

"Before It was decided that you would stay behind and stabilize the passage using the human continent inhabitants' lives as the fuel while my armies march forth to the other side,"

"The Forces of the Malefis Domain would realize that destroying the crystal would only weaken the array, and to seal the passage, they would need to come to the other side and stop you from maintaining the passage,"

"The latter is not an option, leaving them with the only choice to return to Domain and use one of the World Items or bring Varon to the Human Continent so he could close the passage, and in both cases, it would take at least six hours, which is more than enough for our plan,"

"The said person could be a rouge Ruler with a great understanding of Chaos or have means to control those single-minded creatures, but there is a slim possibility that a Chaos Queen has taken birth."

"But now things have changed," Ahrimon said, and Leviathan, who had his head down the entire time, finally raised it because he could feel a hint of joy in his King's voice.

"A Chaos General that was freed for a small purpose went rogue, not completing his given task, and weeks later another Chaos general was freed, and a few days ago a third general was taken, confirming that someone was controlling them."

"The said person could be a rouge Ruler with a great understanding of Chaos or have means to control those single-minded creatures, but there is a slim possibility that a Chaos Queen has taken birth."

"If it's a Chaos Queen, then I want her," Ahrimon said, his raised voice carrying a chilling intensity.

"We will kill one of three generals as previously planned and then use the remaining two as bait when the battle for the four crystals begins,"

"If it's a Chaos Queen, she is sure to make her presence known to save her subjects, whom she could easily empower with a single wish, and if she does it, then the plan would become completely different,"

"You would immediately go to the Human Continent and do everything you need to to bring her back to me,"

"By everything, I mean everything, and that includes using the lives of all present allies who bear your mark of servitude,"

"Accomplish this task, and I will shower you with my gifts."

"Fail, and you will suffer a fate worse than Death," Ahrimon said, his voice returning to its usual cold calm, with few words carrying many meanings.

'I don't have any proof, but I am certain that these deaths are either a big distraction or are fuel for something,' Alex thought as he looked at the half dozen screens floating before him.

It had been close to fifty minutes since the Chaos General was executed, and all hell broke loose, and till his moment, the locations of the essence crystal were yet to be revealed.

Beasts blinded by their rage numbering a few million were going wild in their habitats, with a third of them having left the jungle area and charging into nearby cities, while the cult members were popping all over the place, setting the towns and cities into flames, not caring about their own lives.

It was complete chaos, and despite the expedition members handling things with great speed, the cultists' suicidal missions were causing a staggering loss of life.

"The location of all four crystals is located," Lady Margaret said as she appeared next to Alex before throwing a small transponder device into the air that swiftly protected a large window that displayed a bustling city.

'It's the capital city, Nova,' Alex thought as he saw the bustling city spanning tens of kilometers, with a massive white palace at its center.

"Didn't Elder Xiaphaeus check the capital city for a demon hideout?" Alex said, feeling baffled by the reveal of the hideout.

They had anticipated the demons to be concealed in some city, a perfect place to mask the presence of large groups of individuals, and because of that, one of the Four Monarchs had personally scouted all major cities.

"Both Xiaphaeus and Tauricus Praytemus examined the cities, and unless they have both betrayed the Domain, the hideout remaining hidden was surely the work of World items," Elder Darrien said, clearing the air of doubt.

Alex also signed in relief, knowing that if they could use a low world-class item to deal with a Sin Champion, then Ahrimon could use a number of high-class ones to make sure his plan was successful.

'This is going to turn ugly,' Alex pondered as he realized the devastation that comes with a battle between giants.

"Tauricus and his squad are prepared for such a situation," Elder Darrien said, and like proving his words right, the space in the city sky tore open and speedily expanded to tens of meters.

A man in gray and gold robes exited the portal, followed by twelve figures all adorned in battle armor, and without a word said, all of them spread through the sky, taking specific spots.

Once they reached their required position, Tauricus, the Giant Monarch of the Crimson Void, stretched his arms wide, and a massive magic circle began to expand, covering hundreds of meters with every instant.

However, before Alex could feel relieved that millions of innocents were saved, six towering behemoths tore through the bustling streets, rising through the rubles to stand tall at staggering heights of hundreds of meters in height. Simultaneously, many districts were engulfed in domes of elemental fury, transforming the bustling city into a cacophony of thundering explosions, taking the lives of thousands of unsuspecting innocents.

The War Titans, a plethora of canons roared to life as jets of plasma and elemental beams were unleashed, aiming to turn their surroundings into a no man-land, and Alex couldn't help but clench his teeth as he cursed at the soulless power-hungry bastards willing to mascara innocents without care.

However, it seemed it was not their day to die, as the beams of energy and the towering giants of iron were all frozen in place before crystal clear ice bean covered them from the inside out.

Alex ran his eyes across the screen and found a man stranded above the city, adorned in a heavy white fur coat, whom he instantly identified as Ulstnir, The Wolf Monarch of Frozen Silence.

The massive elemental explosions that had engulfed various city sectors began to twist like shattered glass before they speedily dissipated into thin air, revealing untouched areas that should have been turned to rubble.

Alex didn't need to search for the old man with a long white goatee beard and a white crystalline turtle shell on his back who was responsible for the rescue, the Beastman, Monarch of Protection.

The three Monarchs had arrived, saving millions from an early death, but the battle had just started, and as relieved Alex felt seeing them, he knew they would be able to save everyone once the heavy hitters of the enemy made their move.

The sky above the city speedily filled with figures, as more and more expedition members appeared at the location that, in their senses, was a beacon of monstrous energy, marking the location of the crystals that they have come to destroy.
