Chapter 81: Unexpected Development

“Mmm…”

Groaning I felt a massive headache burying my head into a deep slumber but I knew if I don’t fight this urge I might regret it later. The clashing sound nearby was proof of it.

Weakly I lifted my lids as I recalled that something massive was hit on my back before I collided with the wall and blacked out. What it was or how it got so close to me in the first place was still unclear.

“!!!”

The first thing my hazy gaze caught was the head of our raid team leader Erwin staring back at me but there seemed no life remaining in that gaze which made me realize the severity of the situation.

My heartbeat started racing as I clenched my fist while trying my best to calm down. This was not the first time I have been taken down by surprise so I knew the best thing I can do to recover my sanity was to first regulate my breathe.

*Fuuuu*

Exhaling deeply a small gust formed in front of my face before I slowly lifted my body with my either palms pressed on the ground. As soon I glanced at the scene in front, my body again froze in shock.

“UGOOOOHH”

On one side the shrouded assassin Caroline was fighting with goblins which were about half a dozen in number and on the other side, Lara was engaged in combat with a greater goblin who was in fact the boss of the floor.

But there was something amiss about them since at the level Lara was she should have dealt with them rather easily despite the fact she was ambushed by surprise in the beginning just like everyone else.

Not to talk about the immense energy I was feeling from those monsters which made me confused. Either my inexperience was making me this nervous or those things really are so pumped up.

‘Well, no point in mulling over it…’

I chugged down three health recovery potions and felt sudden warmth spreading at a tremendous pace. All set and done, I took out a pair of daggers from my storage and went for the grouped one side.

“Step back!”

I used my psychokinesis to pull Caroline away from the fight which naturally surprised the girl but if she had continued there, it would have hindered for what I was going to do.

[Lull]

A technique to calm down chaotic scenes by sending a peculiar warming mental wave to the targeted audience. If used smartly, I can make people settle down even if they are in mid of war, and fortunately, it works on creatures as well.

As soon the radiation of Lull hit the group of goblins, their back straightened and eyes went around showing their bafflement and that distraction was enough for me to take the reign.

As Seth used the skill and brought a slight halt to the green-skinned creatures, he didn’t even wait for a moment before dashing toward them at a furious pace, and with his daggers held in a reverse grip, he sliced the throat of two of the front standing goblins.

Soon the effect of the skill wore off but it was too late since Seth had reached the middle of the remaining four at the time when the goblins regained their composure and analyzed what just happened with their comrades.

*GROOOOOHH*

The first thing Seth did was to stab the goblins standing on his left and right however he knew just impaling the creatures wasn’t going to kill them. Kicking the goblin who was about to swing its club off Seth’s back, he focused on the only one standing on his feet at the front.

By the time goblin in front could have understood that its enemy was not something in its capability to deal with, Seth had already taken a hold of its thick neck before he kicked the goblin’s heel and using the moment, threw the creature on the ground with a loud bang.

Seth didn’t halt there as he knew until he doesn’t destroy their core, they wouldn’t die so the first thing he did was to take the club which one of the goblins dropped. Gripping the thick base with both of his hands, Seth raised it high in the air before he mercilessly bashed the Goblin’s forehead.

*GHUOCK*

The other goblins tried to run away but Seth was not here to play around as he raised his hand and using his skill lifted the two goblins whom he impaled before. Bringing the other three goblins in front of his eyes as well, Seth collected all four goblins who were trembling all over.

He would have enjoyed killing each one of them separately but he knew Lara needed his help so the next thing he took out of his inventory was a massive sledgehammer.

“I was really looking forward to using this~”

In one corner Caroline sat while struggling to breathe, with her body bleeding actively from three different corners. Despite her struggle, her eyes never left the battlefield where she was previously handling the goblins.

But unlike her, the boy who previously introduced himself just as a strategist was one after another showing such spectacles which made Caroline inwardly shiver and thank the god that he was on their side. She has met powerful people in the past as well, but this guy was just…menacing on an extreme level. Even Caroline cringe upon seeing how he crushed those heads but the assaulter in question had a wide grin plastered on his lips all the time.

‘Just who the hell…is he…’

*GROH*

As the greater goblin which was almost eight feet in height and packed with muscles swung its massive club, Lara tapped the ground with her toes and leaped backward.

It was humiliating enough for her to not sense the monsters approaching her which led her young master to get injured, and now she wasn’t even able to defeat a mere goblin with her strength?

It indeed was strange that she was not able to use her Soul Energy but she has trained her martial skills enough to handle such measly creatures who dared to hurt her young master.

Despite such anger, Lara was only able to inflict minor cuts on her opponent, and in return she had her three ribs broken and her left wrist dislocated. She has already drunk three low-rank potions but nothing seemed to affect her soul energy at all. It seemed the goblin in front was mocking her since it didn’t attack Lara and stood there for her to attack him

‘Pathetic…’

Biting her lower lip, Lara readied her dual saber to launch this next attack with every ounce of energy she have and kill the bastard in one go.

But suddenly she felt a big and gentle hand tapping on her shoulder before she heard a very pleasing familiar tone whispering in a gentle tone.

“You did great, Lara. Now leave it to me.”
