*Step*

*Step*

Xi Shen’s feet landed on the cobblestone ground, as he walked towards Fu Wei who was still convulsing.

He was extremely leisurely and had his hands behind his back.

Xi Shen wasn’t in a hurry. He had been waiting for fourteen ears for this so a few seconds wouldn’t be a big deal for him.

However, his leisurely steps suddenly grind to a halt when several runes flashed into being around Fu Wei and the entire room as a whole.

This sudden development stun Xi Shen. He actually didn’t sense these runes previously.

The runes were blood-red and with Fu Wei at the center, several complicated symbols that resemble chains spread out to all corners of the room on the ground.

Looking around at these runes, Xi Shen’s eyes flickered intensely before his face suddenly scrunched up into a completely ugly expression.

“These runes-”

“Hahaha!”

Xi Shen was suddenly cut off by Fu Wei who had opened his eyes to look at him.

Despite the fact that he was in immense pain with his body convulsing, Fu Wei forced himself to stare at Xi Shen with a wicked smirk and a mocking glint in his eyes.

“I-I knew you were going to show up. So how do you like my present little Shen?”

Seeing his brother’s expression, Xi Shen’s face twisted even more into a dark look.

“You actually set up a Life-binding Formation. If I dispel it you die.”

Fu Wei remained silent, but the mockery in his eyes increased.

Xi Shen’s face return to a calm expression before he coldly and softly said, “You think I won’t kill you just because you're my elder brother? Siblings kill each other all the time for the throne, father wouldn’t bat an eye if I did.”

Fu Wei flashed a knowing smile before he said, “If you do you would lose your plum blossom. But even if that wasn’t the case you still wouldn’t kill me would you?”

Xi Shen’s face remained neutral as he asked, “And why would you say that?”

“You're my little brother, despite the secrets you hold, I still watched you grow up for these past fourteen years. You are too attached to family bonds. Instead of killing me, your older brother who had shown ill will towards you, you would rather avoid or never come into conflict with me all together.”

“Hahaha, I can’t say I’m indifferent to your love for me, but that na?ve part of you is a huge flaw little Shen. In the cultivation world, thinking something like blood is thicker than water will get you killed. Take it from me, if you were able to cultivate, I would have either killed you or be merciful and just crippled your foundation.”

The episode resided and Fu Wei looked relaxed as he conversed with Xi Shen.

After hearing Fu Wei’s words, Xi Shen showed an amused smile. His smile then turned to a chuckle before he fully burst out into an uproarious laugh.

While holding his stomach Xi Shen wiped away the tears at the corner of his eyes.

While looking at his brother behind the formation, he said, “So you think you got me figured out, huh? Yes, I have to admit I wanted to avoid killing you since what you want I don’t need. We can go our separate paths without getting in each other’s way. Hm, call me na?ve but that is what I desire. However…”

Xi Shen paused here, and he looked at Fu Wei with so much contempt it seemed as if it could turn solid at any moment.

“The only reason I have this mindset in the first place is that even if you wanted to hurt me, you absolutely couldn’t. It’s extremely laughable how oblivious you are of your current situation.”

Fu Wei’s calm expression slowly faded as he listen to Xi Shen’s ridiculing words.

Xi Shen smirked after he said that, and soon after his golden eyes took on an orange color before an orange petal appeared on his forehead.

Looking directly at Fu Wei, he said in a commanding tone, “Open this formation.”

Fu Wei frowned at this but, his eyes immediately go wide in confusion as to the multicolored plum blossom released a blinding glow. The parts of it he had gained control over were pushed out by some force that was buried deep within it.

Fu Wei then watched in horror as his hands moved on their own to form a seal.

“Wh-what is this?!”

Fu Wei cried out in shock when he realize he had lost all control of his body.

His fingers made a seal, and then the formation beneath him was dispelled.

“No!”

“Stop talking.” Xi Shen said as he stepped forward.

Immediately Fu Wei’s mouth was locked shut.

Fu Wei stared wide-eyed at Xi Shen as he came to stand in front of him. His gaze landed on the orange petal on his forehead and his eyes showed so much befuddlement Xi Shen had to chuckle.

His expression resemble a puppy that Xi Shen had just kicked.

Xi Shen patted his brother’s head in a comforting manner while saying.

“Ahh, don’t look like that. How could you have known? Haha.”

“Do you remember when you threaten to kill me when we were younger? Haha, don’t worry I won’t hold a grudge, I’ll only make this process three times more painful as it needed to be.”

Xi Shen then placed his right palm on Fu Wei’s forehead.

The orange petal on his forehead faded to appear in the middle of his right palm.

A strong suction force then began to emanate from it to slowly extract the plum blossom from Fu Wei’s forehead.

Fu Wei’s eyes bulge open and his muffle screams were locked inside his firmly closed mouth.

The episodes before were nothing like the pain he was feeling. It was like a firm metal clamp had latched onto a piece of his soul and was forcefully pulling it out of his body.

His body convulse uncontrollably, but Xi Shen gave a command not to move.

Now he was sitting there motionlessly but his body was visibly shaking like a leaf in a thunderstorm.

“Don’t worry, this will be over soon, just bear it for now.”

Despite Xi Shen’s words, his actions were purposely slow. This slow removal of the plum blossom was even more painful for Fu Wei.

While enduring this hell-like pain, a hint of unwillingness suddenly appeared in Fu Wei’s eyes and he started to fight back against this plum blossom’s control. He was unwilling to lose it.

“Huh?” Xi Shen suddenly said as he sensed a hint of Fu Wei’s control of the multicolored plum blossom reappear to fight against his.

“You're still struggling? It’s useless just give up already.”

Fu Wei’s hand suddenly lifted and grabbed onto Xi Shen's right hand.

Unperturbed, Xi Shen went to pull his hand away, but Fu Wei had a death-like grip on his arm.

“Little Shen don’t. If you release your control of this and leave it with me I promise I won’t harm you in the future.”

“Are you trying to bargain with me right now?”

“Sorry but no chance, I need this thing right now. You've had your fun with it.”

Fu Wei’s eyes showed indignation as he barked.

“Bullshit! You can’t cultivate so how can this be useful to you?!”

“You already gave it to me, haven't you ever heard it’s rude to take back things you’ve gifted to someone?!”

Xi Shen’s expression turned weird at this time, and he almost felt amused that Fu Wei was resorting to cheap tactics like this. But if only his extraction process wasn’t being hampered by his persistence.

“Bastard, whether I gave it to you or not doesn’t matter, it’s mine so let it go so it can return to its rightful owner!”

The image of Fu Wei begging and resisting while Xi Shen tried pulling out the plum blossom looked extremely comical without any context, but Xi Shen was starting to get annoyed at this current situation.

Looking at Fu Wei he said.

“This isn’t something you want to keep, trust me. If this stays attached to you, you’ll be taken over by it and become a puppet that only listens to my commands.”

“Wh-what?!”

Fu Wei’s expression changed as he heard that, and his hands lessen a bit.

However, it tighten soon after as he said.

“You can’t trick me, if I’m able to wipe away your control of it it’ll be completely mine!”

Xi Shen frowned upon hearing that.

For the past fourteen years, he had been studying this plum blossom and how it affected Fu Wei.

At first, he thought it would slowly start to siphon away his emotions and go back to its original form, but no, something else happened.

“Elder brother.” Xi Shen said seriously.

He was done dragging this out.

“You won’t understand this now because of how the plum blossom has affected you. But after I take it out, you’ll realize then.”

His words fell on deaf ears, and Fu Wei’s face twisted into an ugly expression.

“NO!!”

“This is mine, I won’t let you have it, NEVER!”

Seeing the effects of the plum blossom and the crazy look in his eyes Xi Shen sighed.

His hand released a blinding orange glow, and the little bit of control Fu Wei had over it was violently crushed.

With a swift pull, the plum blossom was wrenched from between his eyebrows.
