East Lake City was a Nascent Realm level city and was like any other cultivator city around the Celestial Academy.

It had massive Auction Houses with rare and precious items being sold. Grandiose pavilion restaurants that sold ambrosia-like food, and even pavilions that held otherworldly beautiful women, or men, no one would judge, that would to entice you to spend more.

It was currently night time and the streets were lit with lanterns while people busily or casually stroll about.

Inside of the high-end area of the city, was a completely empty reputable restaurant, except for the youth sitting alone on its top floor.

He was casual as he repeatedly poured himself wine from a jug nearby.

Across from him was a single empty seat.

The young man that looked no more than twenty took up the cup that he filled with wine and swirled it a bit.

Staring at his reflection inside the cup for a moment, his face could be seen twitching while a surprising light flickered in his eyes briefly.

“I never thought the people tailing me were sent by someone like you.”

As the youth spoke, he looked up across from him to the person who had suddenly appeared in the once empty seat.

The person wore a gray mask with messy black hair that looked out of control. His clothes were plain and patches of different cloth strips were present, making one think the robes were torn and fixed multiple times.

His demeanor was neither strange nor irregular, but one look at him and one can tell he wasn’t just a beggar playing dress-up.

“The Faceless Hero, I’m honored.”

The masked individual called the Faceless Hero trained his attention on the young man.

Immediately as those red eyes behind the featureless mask landed on him, the young man felt his heartbeat increase while nervousness rose from the pit of his stomach.

However, his outer demeanor was calm as he place down the wine cup.

“I would never have thought that you were the one sending those spies to observe me. I guess the rumors of you working alone were just rumors.”

The young man was looking down as he spoke.

“But what I want to know is why you would go out of your way to observe me?

“I heard of your feats. Not only have you discovered and destroyed multiple low-level Demonic Cult secret hideouts since your debut, but you’ve shown up on random occasions to completely defeat some of the top geniuses of our generation before disappearing. Your name has swept across the continent for the past two and a half years and adding your hidden identity, you’ve become a phantom phenom.”

Looking up, the young man then showed a confused expression as he asked.

“I’m neither a genius nor someone of importance in my clan, so why seek me out?”

He then remained silent for a response from this enigmatic figure.

However, only an uncomfortable silence persisted.

The longer the silence went on the thicker the tension in the air became.

“Are you done stalling?”

The young man hearing that had his heart tremble.

On the outside, the entire street around the pavilion that was once bustling was completely silent and void of anyone. No, the entire city was completely dead silent with absolutely no one in sight.

This once lively city had suddenly became a ghost town.

“I’m not sure what you mean by that. I-”

“Weren’t you the one investigating my identity?”

The young man visibly stiffened.

“You’re name is Ming Weisheng. The secret grandson of the fourth Elder of the Ming Clan. You’ve been pretending to be a low-level member of the Ming Clan and even though your talents in cultivation are subpar, your talent in scheming and strategy is far beyond anyone in our generation.”

The more Li Shen spoke in his distorted voice, the more Weisheng face turned darker and darker.

“You’ve been annoyingly poking you’re head around trying to see my face behind this mask. What? You thought you were being subtle? I have to admit finding you was extremely hard, I’ll give you that. But after scheming in the dark for so long, it’s about time you came out of your cave to show the cowardly fuck you are.”

BANG!!

Immediately after Li Shen finished his words, Weisheng kicked the table towards him while simultaneously using the rebound to move to a window to escape.

How could he have known the person who was investigating him and who he was trying to bait out using himself would be the famous Faceless Hero? The same person he was secretly investigating!

What was more horrifying was that his true identity was discovered.

‘How is this possible?’

Weisheng’s heart was pounding in his ears and his back had formed sweat sometime ago.

He had set up baited trap, but he wasn’t expecting a great white to be the thing that popped its head up from the surface.

Before the table could reach Li Shen, it suddenly split in two and went to either side. A Wind Saber Qi was present in his hands as he turned to Weisheng.

His figure suddenly disappearing to appear behind him.

Weisheng then felt a cold chill as he heard Li Shen’s Saber Qi cutting through the air towards his neck.

Immediately turning around, he took out a mid-grade Spirit Artifact shield. At the same time, his mid Foundation Realm cultivation burst out and poured into the shield.

Li Shen’s saber impacted the shield with a loud bang, and the force sent Weisheng flying back to crash out the window.

As Weisheng fell he felt his arm go numb, but what’s more, his face stiffen when he heard the shield letting out a cracking noise.

Fissures had suddenly appeared on it from the thin line in the middle made by Li Shen’s saber.

‘He damaged a mid-grade Spirit Artifact with one strike?’

Weisheng's heart shook at this figure’s strength. He had only heard of his feats by word of mouth, but now he realize he had underestimated this person.

Not only does he have extraordinary talents, he now proved to have the resources to find out his true identity that even 95% of the Ming Clan didn’t know. Now it makes sense how he could find and destroy Demonic Cult secret bases so quickly, and seemed to appear in just the right place and the right time to challenge the top geniuses.

Weisheng had vastly underestimated this person and made the wrong decision to investigate him. Now he had brought this person’s attention to him.

Gritting his teeth, Weisheng took out an ordinary-looking jade slip. This was more than he had bargained for and he didn’t know if the plan he crafted could deal with this threat.

However, when he went to crush the jade slip, a searing heat batted against his face and he looked up to see a two-meter sword made of fire piercing the void towards him.

“STOP HIM!!”

Weisheng yelled, and immediately three figures appeared from the shadows.

One went after the fire Sword Qi aiming towards him and destroyed it, while the other two jointly attacked Li Shen just as he leaped from the broken window still.

Creating two metal Sword Qi in both hands, he blocked their attacks, but his body was sent flying back where it came from, crashing through the pavilion destroying it and sending wooden splinters everywhere.

Weisheng landed on top of a nearby building and crushed the jade slip while yelling.

“Grandfather, I need help!”
