“BASTARD!!”
A furious bellow echoed out before a mountain top in an isolated area exploded.
Two figures could be seen flying out as fast as lightning, one chasing the other.
‘Dammit, what is this? Why was there a Nascent Realm cultivator in there?!!’
Li Shen cursed internally as he flew as fast as he could, but the old man with a malevolent expression suddenly teleported behind him. His hand which had sinister-looking purple energy around it shot towards his back.
Li Shen quickly conjured a metal Sword Qi in his hand and attacked, but his Sword Qi was easily shattered and the old man’s hand continued to slam against his chest.
Li Shen coughed out a mouth full of blood which was blocked by his mask while his chest sunk in.
The scene was horrific as his figure was sent hurtling down to the ground to crash against the forest tree down below, creating a crater fifty meters in diameter.
Laying face up mask partly destroyed revealing one of his eyes, Li Shen felt the poison from the old man’s hand seeping into his internal organs.
“Fu-Fuck.”
He mumbled out with a hoarse voice.
*Two Hours Earlier*
A deafening whistle-like sound echoed out as Li Shen's figure flew through the air. He came to a stop above an isolated mountain in a forest, that was far away from any human settlements.
The moon was fully up in the sky, without being hindered by the clouds, it shone its silver rays down on the earth and Li Shen’s figure was revealed.
His shabby-looking robes as well as his mask were covered in splatters of blood. In this one night, he had visited eighteen Demonic Cult secret bases, all low-level bases.
Some of them turn out to not be a Poison Sect hideout, showing that even the behemoth force the Mercenary Association intelligence gathering can be incorrect.
But it couldn’t be helped, this was the best Li Shen could get. He had thought about using his new seed in the Ming Clan, since compared to his own forces, Weisheng’s own was exponentially more diverse.
However, he was hesitant to use him so soon. As it stands now, any unnatural movement from him such as looking for a Top Chosen from the Poison Demonic Cult, could rouse the suspicions of his grandfather or a few people in the Ming Clan.
Li Shen refuse to believe that Ghuanyu wasn’t aware of Weisheng’s identity, and if so he had to be careful how he used Weisheng to not show he had been compromised.
Taking out the jade slip, Li Shen confirmed the coordinates to make sure this was the next Demonic Cult secret base location.
The jade slip mentioned that this was likely a mid-level secret base. Meaning, that there could be Core Formation Realm cultivators here.
Li Shen wasn’t strong enough to battle multiple Core Formation Realm cultivators at once, and the highest he could face one and one and not be killed instantly was a mid-stage Core formation Realm cultivator.
After a moment of contemplation, Li Shen muttered.
“Fuck it. I’ve come this far, plus the secret bases he was found at were all categorized as mid-level bases. It’s no use continuing to go after low-level bases. If things look dangerous from the get go I’ll just retreat.”
Li Shen had ordered Li Wen to remain in the Celestial Academy, but since he was the one who would accompany him as the Faceless Hero during his raids on mid level bases, he should have brought him. He was too impulsive, but then again doing something out of his comfort zone once in a while was good.
If it really comes down to a life and death battle he still had some life-saving treasures and even his last resort. Though he was reluctant to reveal it unless it was absolutely necessary.
With his mind made up, Li Shen began lowering himself down to the mountain.
Meanwhile, a thought couldn’t help but pop into his head as he tried to find this Poison Progenitor.
‘How exactly did Jun find him to battle him one on one?’
Li Shen wanted to ask Jun this but he was unconscious and the others didn’t seem to know. It had only been a few hours since Li Shen left the Celestial Academy so Jun hadn't woke up yet.
As Li Shen slowly lowered himself down to the mountain, something caught his attention that made him focused. Everything was put at the back of his mind before he immediately paused his descent downwards.
‘There’s no formation around this mountain.’
Li Shen had visited secret bases like this previously, and all of them in isolated locations had formations around them.
Li Shen’s eyes behind his mask narrowed as they became golden.
“Eh?”
What he saw caused him to become surprised.
Without any hesitation, his figure swiftly descended down to the foot of the mountain.
Immediately as his feet landed, a horrendous amount the metallic scent of blood batted against his senses.
Looking around, there were a few decapitated bodies of Demonic Cultivators around the area and at the entrance the lead inside the mountain.
Li Shen even saw evidence that suggested a formation was previously placed around the mountain.
It didn’t take much for him to guess what happened here.
This base of the Demonic Cult was attacked, their formation destroyed along with their outer guards being killed. The trail of dead bodies led into the entrance of the mountain so Li Shen guessed more carnage was waiting inside for him.
But what surprised him before was the nature of the attack on this base.
He walked up to a headless corpse, his eyes still golden in color as he examined where the body’s head was severed.
A remnant golden aura was around the cut. The aura was overbearing and from its reluctance to mix with the Spiritual Qi around it, for that reason, Li Shen got the feeling that it was extremely prideful.
“A Unique Qi.”
He concluded that the person who raided this place was cultivating a Unique Qi. It was this Qi that he saw with his Heavenly Eyes that made him surprised.
The Black Miasma from the accumulation of Demonic Qi here was being suppressed by the golden aura. This was incredible to Li Shen.
No matter how he despised the Demonic Cult and the Demonic Qi they wielded, he was forced to admit that Demonic Qi was terrifying.
He had studied it in-depth over the years to understand it, but the only conclusion he came to about it's origins was that it didn't contained the six natural elements. Though with certain cultivation methods a Demonic Cultivator would devour and corrupt one of the six elements so they can cultivate like normal Qi cultivators.
The only type of Qi that Li Shen know that can suppress them was Jun's Righteous Qi. It was a pure and untainted Qi, a natural opposite to the corrupt and vile Demonic Qi.
But now he was seeing that this Unique Qi was capable of suppressing Demonic Qi without being corrupted.
“I’ve never seen, or read about such Spiritual Energy.”
Li Shen thought for a moment before he reached up and grasped the air.
The remnant golden Qi that was once invisible appeared before being drawn to his palm. However, Li Shen’s relaxed manner shifted and he immediately let go of his control of the golden Qi.
As soon as he did, the little bit of golden aura that appeared suddenly transformed into a translucent golden dragon about a meter in length.
Li Shen was so surprised his eyes went wide.
The dragon didn’t make a move but only remain still, staring down at him.
Li Shen looked into its golden eyes and for some reason, he felt that someone was staring back at him.
However, the feeling faded away as soon as it came, along with the body of the dragon as well.
Watching as this happened, Li Shen was baffled by this occurrence.
“What is this Qi? It actually resisted my Heavenly Law manipulation.”
Even though his Heavenly Law manipulation from his Heavenly Law cultivation was mediocre at best, that Qi was already on the verge of dissipating and yet it was still strong enough to resist it.
“And those eyes, it was obvious someone was using that dragon as a medium to watch me. It was obviously the person who did destroy this secret base.”
The more he thought about what just happened, the more it became apparent how shocking it was.
“Such techniques, I’ve never even thought about creating something like this before with Spirit Energy. This golden Qi was more like a whole body, and using this residue Qi connection to his own, that person must have been able to cast that ability to observe me from afar.”
After only seeing it once, Li Shen quickly deduced the nature of this Qi.
His golden eyes shone brightly as he observed the remnant golden Qi in the surroundings.
Reaching forward, this time he used more strength in his grasp towards them. He wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to study this type of Qi.
In a twenty-meter radius, the golden aura appeared and started to flow towards Li Shen.
However, as this happened, a voice suddenly echoed out.
“You again? Little brother, didn’t you understand my warning from before?”
The translucent dragon appeared once again, this time it looked even more majestic with its long horns along with it's whiskers, and five-meter length body.
