The coming of a calamity.

How would one feel during such a time?

Fearful?

Anxious?

On the border of the Western and Eastern Territory, the Spiritual Beasts in the area have all been in this state perpetually for the past seven days.

Loud explosions that sounded like the world was going to end constantly echoed out.

The roars that entered their ears caused their hearts to shudder as they sound like they came from enraged deities.

They were scared and they didn’t want to be there, but they didn’t dare move an inch from their own small territories for fear of drawing these deities' attention.

Corpses of their fellow Spirit Beasts were in the area, a sign of what would happen to them if they stood out too much.

The eyes of the Spirit Beasts hiding deep within the forest tried to follow the two shadows, but they were so fast that only their afterimages could be seen, which disappear as soon as they appear.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

In the air above waterfalls, on the ground at the base of mountains.

As the two shadowy figures clashed shockwaves visible to the naked eyes could be seen as a result. Mountains collapsed, trees were uprooted, and rivers were drained as they fought.

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

It seems they held weapons as sparks flew during some of their clashes.

The Spirit Beasts were trembling more than usual since this fight had been going on for nearly a day. These two shadows have never clashed for this long.

They would always stop after a couple of hours and then start again. That period of silence from them was like a calm before the storm for the Spirit Beasts. Or rather it felt as if they had entered the eye of a tornado.

But even though that period of time would not last long, they were desperate for it to come right now.

BANG!

BANG!

Since the clash of weapons was distinguishable from these sounds, it could be ascertained that these shockwaves were created by the two figures clashing with purely their physical bodies.

From the shadowy figures' afterimages, it could be seen that they were humans. However, even Spirit Beasts that were well known to have a naturally stronger physical body than humans, these two would make one hesitate to confirm that notion if one saw their fight.

CLANG!

CLANG!

The two shadowy figures clash with their weapons above a waterfall.

They then separated, each landing on either side of the pond below.

On the left was a nine feet monstrosity.

The person’s body radiated a terrifying aura of dominance by just standing there. He was shirtless having only dregs for make-shift bottom wear. His exposed upper body was muscular along with it being covered in scars, the fresh cuts visible that were long and deep was from the clash earlier.

A large pitch black saber was in his hand and was nearly half of his figure.

If one looked closer they would realize that this mountain of a person’s hair had strands of golden streaks in it, but was obscured by the dirt that colored it brown.

This was Li Shen.

His glistening golden eyes that were somehow even bright than before, looked through the strands of his hair at the figure across from him.

The person was a bit smaller but was still a mountain of a human standing at just under seven feet.

He stood firmly on his feet when he landed, but quickly his legs gave out and he fell to his knee.

His hand went up to cover his mouth as blood gushed from it.

Li Shen silently watched as this happened.

The figure after coughing up another mouth full of blood wiped his lips and used his saber to left himself up.

His back straighten and through this person's disheveled black hair that cover his face, he looked at Li Shen with a steely gaze.

Like a bronze giant, his muscles tighten as he drew his foot back and got into a stance to draw his saber.

Strange.

Completely strange.

This person was using a sword-drawing stance despite having a saber as a weapon.

If any saber master had seen this scene they would scuff in disgust.

Do you think a saber can mimic the speed of a sword? Do you think that’s what a saber should be used for? Get the fuck out of here with that abomination of a saber skill!!

The sheer anger they would have felt after seeing this person defiling the principles of using a saber would be enough to reach the nine heavens and cause its destruction.

But if they would take a minute to calm down and observe this person, they would realize something was even stranger.

His stance, something about it would give one the impression that it neither conformed to the principles of wielding a saber nor a sword.

It was as if this person had created an amalgamation of the sword and saber. With the speed of a sword being drawn and the overbearing nature of the saber.

The aura that suddenly began to release from him felt untamed, unbounded, and free from the restrictions of the norm.

This was the nature of his saber. It was free from all the restrictions under heaven, and even the restrictions that constitute and dictates what a saber was.

Not only was it free, but it would forcefully go against them. Against the heavens and the principals restricting it by any means necessary.

Even if that meant incorporating sword principles into his saber and slicing through anything and everything. With the sheer determination within his saber, he would show the world his way of wielding his saber was stronger.

Only his saber would remain in this world, only his saber could be called unbeatable.

If anyone dared claim otherwise, they will be cut down without mercy.

Mu Fan's hand swung out resulting in a terrifying saber slash to travel towards Li Shen.

The pond was sliced in two along with any rocks that blocked its path.

As if he was standing on a shore facing a raging storm that was out in sea head towards him, Li Shen felt the blood-chilling Blade Intent bat against his face.

Before the Blade Intent had even reached him, small cuts appeared on his body.

However, he remained as steady as a mountain in the face of Mu Fan’s Blade Intent.

Raising his hand high above his head, Li Shen made a simple vertical slash with his saber.

His one slash caused the terrifying storm heading towards him to be split in two despite its extremely fast and overbearing nature.

If one looked closely they could see a thin black line cutting through Mu Fan’s Blade Intent. Li Shen’s saber as well was glowing with a darker luster at its edge. This was his Time Qi being shown in action.

Mu Fan braced for the thin black line to attack him by raising his saber, however, it faded away before reaching him.

Then for the first time since they met a week ago, Li Shen spoke and said.

"You can go through your breakthrough now.”

He realized that Mu Fan had finally achieved enlightenment in their battle, and was ready to from his Ninth Divine Platform.

But more importantly, his Saber Intent had solidified even more.

Li Shen could feel he had a good grasp of his Blade Dao. Which was rare for someone so young in their cultivation, but he recognized that when it came to comprehending the saber, Mu Fan’s genius couldn’t be measured.

Mu Fan said nothing as he simply sat down cross-legged with his saber on his lap, deciding to have his breakthrough right there.

As long as Li Shen was there he didn’t have to worry about outside interference.

Li Shen looked away from Mu Fu and happened to see his reflection in the settling pond water.

Li Shen grimaced at the sight.
