“Master...it’s gone.”
Jun said from behind Li Shen worriedly.
Immediately as he entered the Demon Grotto, the Karma String connection between him and Fang Chen just disappeared all of a sudden with no warning or indication.
That was too strange and coincidental.
Li Shen’s eyes never stopped examining the fogging surroundings while a solemn expression played on his face.
‘Why is the fog even thicker than before?’
The last time Li Shen was here he could see for hundreds of meters while inside the fog, but now he could barely see three meters in front of him.
How can he not have apprehension suddenly rise in his heart?
Li Shen’s eyes soon gained more luster as he used his Heavenly Eyes. However, Li Shen’s face immediately fell as he couldn’t see anything. No, he could see something, he saw a pair of eyes staring back at him.
They were blood red and as Li Shen met his gaze with it, he had never before sensed something so vile. It was as if he was staring at the accumulation of all of humanity’s cruelty, vileness, evil, and murderous nature.
Having been bombarded by this overwhelming feeling made Li Shen’s heart shudder and he take a step back.
His retreat was instinctive, he felt like whoever, no, whatever those eyes belong to was about to reach out and corrupt his soul and physical body.
As Li Shen took a step back, the others paused at his sudden reaction.
When Li Shen’s eyes met these blood-red eyes, surprise flashed in the blood-red eyes.
“To think someone on this little planet would possess Heaven’s Eyes, interesting.”
Li Shen suddenly heard a voice sound in his ears. It was raspy as it fluctuated between high and low tones. It was very grating to the ears.
“Master, what’s wrong?”
Yang Su came up to Li Shen and worriedly asked while the others voiced similar questions.
Li Shen was first surprised and caught off guard by these blood-red eyes, but he quickly calm down. The instinctual fear that these eyes induced was forcefully suppressed by him.
“Hm, you seemed to have some level of accomplishment towards Godhood, but you’re still a young Godling. I wonder how you would taste.”
As the voice entered Li Shen's ears, he could practically hear the saliva dripping from his lips.
What this person said caused shock to flood Li Shen’s heart, but he didn’t show any of it on the surface and instead calmly asked.
“Who are you?”
Because Li Shen had spoken out in the open, Yang Su and the others heard him.
Their heads immediately darted to where Li Shen was staring into the blood-red fog, but they saw nothing. However, rather than believing there was nothing there, their expressions instead became solemn and their guards immediately went up.
After Li Shen asked his question, the eyes seemed to gain a furious glint. In an almost prideful tone, the person said.
“A young Godling doesn’t know of my existence? Has the God Council fallen to such an extent?”
Li Shen froze.
‘Who is this person? Why does he know about the God Council? Is he… from the God Era?’
Li Shen’s heart let out a loud thud at this thought. He began wracking his brain to understand what was going on, but before Li Shen could think of anything, the voice continued in its prideful tone.
“Very well, I will educate you in place of your teachers. I am Mo Rong from the Qiong Qi Race, the most feared and powerful Divine Beast Race of the God Domain.”
Confusion rose up in Li Shen’s heart.
Qiong Qi Race?
Divine Beast Race?
What the hell was he talking about?!
As if sensing the confusion in Li Shen’s heart, the voice said with a frown.
“It seems you have no idea what I’m talking about. I suppose this is normal if you haven’t yet returned to the Celestial Realm, you must have been sent to this planet to mature to adulthood. I swear you pitiful false Gods have some of the weirdest traditions, you're just begging to have your younger generation devoured whole.”
‘What?’
Li Shen couldn’t help but ask in his heart. The more he heard from this person the more confused he got. But the person only continued to talk, he seem rather talkative as if he hadn’t spoken with anyone in a long time.
“I must say, I thought my luck was good to find the perfect host to leave this dimension and even someone who has inherited a Divine Beast Legacy. But to think I would lure a weak young Godling here as well. Haha...”
The person released a dark chuckle, pleased with the results of hooking a small fish only for it to be followed by a larger juicer one.
However, Li Shen’s eyes quickly turned grim at this person’s words, and worry rose in his heart.
“Where is Fang Chen?”
Li Shen asked in a cold tone.
The blood-red eyes looked at him casually as he responded.
“I supposed that persistent youth was a friend of yours, too bad he’s long gone. Not even his soul remains to pass through the River of Samsara.”
One could picture this person turning up his lip into a malicious grin as he said those words.
Li Shen’s body shook and his nails dug into his palms, but that was it. That was the only reaction he gave this person, as he only stare at him with eyes completely void of emotion.
Seeing that his words hadn’t incited Li Shen's emotions, a gleam flickered past the blood-red eyes.
What more could he ask for to have his food wallow in despair and hatred before consuming them? The stronger the emotions of hatred the juicer his food would be when he sinks his teeth into it.
Chuckling, the voice spoke again.
“I’m in a cave within the depths of this Grotto. If you want revenge young Godling, then come. However, I can’t promise that you and your friends will ever leave once you do.”
Li Shen then saw the blood-red eyes start to fade while the person’s presence in the area began to retreat.
However, just before the blood-red eyes vanished, they inadvertently landed on Yang Su by Li Shen’s side. For a brief moment he could no longer hold himself back and an insatiable hunger flickered in them. This was much stronger than when he looked at Li Shen.
But he quickly buried it before it was noticeable.
Yang Su suddenly felt someone staring at him so he turned his head to see it was where Li Shen was looking in the fog. However, the feeling was brief, and he wondered if he had sensed wrong.
After the blood-red eyes fully disappeared the anger and frustration Li Shen was bottling up exploded with full force.
“DAMMIT!!!!”
He scream at the thought that Fang Chen had truly died.
‘No, he couldn’t have. There’s no way he would just die like this, there’s no way...’
Li Shen vehemently deny in his heart.
He refused to believe Fang Chen was truly dead.
Li Shen clenched his fist so hard his knuckles were white. His eyes were squeezed shut tight while his heart was in turmoil.
Despite the pain and anguish Li Shen was feeling, his rage and killing intent had been ignited.
Li Shen’s eyes snap open. A tinge of red was seen in his pure golden eyes while the Divine Platform of the plum blossom shook violently.
The Seals Li Shen placed on it to keep it under control loosen as the entire Divine Platform gave off a red hue that was filled with the desire to cause destruction and carry out mass slaughter.
This was the Sin of Wrath.
Within Li Shen’s eyes, murderous intent flowed out. He then took a step forward to head to the deeper region of the Demon Grotto.
However, someone suddenly stood in front of him.
SLAP!
As Lihua appeared in front of Li Shen, she raised her hand to slam her palms against his cheeks as if to wake up him.
This seemed effective as when Li Shen saw her he finally remembered the others were around him. They had been calling him but it was as if he couldn’t hear them.
The plum blossom Divine Platform stopped shaking and the seals around it tighten all of a sudden. The red hue quickly faded away.
The Seven Sins plum blossom then appeared on top of the Divine Platform and its petals swayed as if it was enraged by Lihua’s actions.
If it wasn’t for Lihua standing in front of him and practically slapping him to his senses, Li Shen would have blindly continued towards the Demon Grotto’s deeper regions as he was.
Looking at Li Shen who finally calm down, Lihua released a sigh internally. Ignoring the pain her hand was in from smacking him, she said exasperatingly.
“Honestly, I’m sick and tired of coming to your aid when you act like a child, you know that?”
